Effective May 2027, NV Energy will be transitioning approximately 49,000 Lake Tahoe area customers to our innovative new PowerMatch™ system — a dynamic, market-driven approach to energy distribution that empowers customers to take an active role in securing their own electricity.
“PowerMatch™ is our new system of electric service delivery, designed around a rotating bracket of winner-take-all spoils,” said Thomas Energy, NV Energy’s Senior Vice President of Customer Disenfranchisement. “We’ve specifically engineered the system to be as unfair as possible, ensuring participants are fully enraged and prepared to put it all on the line — whether that’s for powering their refrigerator, their heating system, or yes, their toaster.”
Starting in May 2027, NV Energy won’t deliver electricity service to customer homes unless that specific subscriber has registered for—and has won—their exhibition knife fight match.
“Look, there’s only so much power to go around, and the reality is that it’s more lucrative for us to divert our energy resources to AI, even though you paid for us to build our infrastructure. But we also felt it was necessary to allow at least some of you to survive, which is why we’ve created PowerMatch™”, said NV Energy’s marketing team.
Participants in the new program will be required to provide their own equipment. When reached for comment on this requirement, NV Energy told us to shut our socialist commie mouths.
Senator Chuck Wattage (R-NV), ranking member of the Senate Subcommittee on Energy and OnlyDonors, released the following statement:
“I am proud to stand with NV Energy and the brave men and women of America’s data center industry. PowerMatch™ represents exactly the kind of public-private innovation that makes this country great. My constituents in Nevada are tough, resourceful people, and I have every confidence that some of them will win. As for the ones who don’t — well, that’s what candles are for. God bless America, God bless NV Energy, and God bless the free market.”
To help answer subscriber questions, NV Energy provided America is a Parody with the following FAQ:
Frequently Asked Questions About PowerMatch™
Q: Will I lose power?
A: No. You will simply be transitioned to a merit-based energy access framework in which power is no longer provided to you, but is instead earned.
Q: What if I have a medical device that requires electricity, such as a ventilator or oxygen concentrator?
A: Great question! Participants with medical equipment are encouraged to consider the competitive advantage that desperation provides. Studies show that the will to live is among the most powerful motivators in a knife fight bracket system. NV Energy wishes you the best of luck.
Q: What weapons are permitted in my PowerMatch™ bracket event?
A: All equipment must comply with NV Energy’s 47-page PowerMatch™ Participant Equipment Guidelines (available on our website, which you can access if you still have power). Permitted equipment includes standard knives, daggers, and utility blades. Firearms are prohibited, as NV Energy feels this would make the process insufficiently personal.
Q: Will I still receive a bill during my PowerMatch™ transition period?
A: Yes. Billing will continue uninterrupted regardless of your participation status, match outcome, or existence. Autopay customers need not take any action.
Q: What happens if I lose my match?
A: Unfortunately, you will cease to exist. But hey, at least you won’t need electricity anymore!
Q: Is this fair?
A: NV Energy does not concern itself with fairness. Through our PowerMatch™ program, we are securing American personal liberty and self-sufficiency.
Q: Is it true that my electricity is being redirected to data centers owned by some of the wealthiest companies in human history?
A: Yes. Thank you for your service.
Q: Is there an option to opt-out?
A: NV Energy appreciates your feedback. Ha. Haha. Hahahahaha.
Q: What if I simply cannot afford to participate in PowerMatch™?
A: NV Energy offers a variety of flexible payment plans to help customers purchase their own knife. Please visit our website or call our customer service line at your earliest convenience.
Q: Where can I find more information if my question wasn’t answered here?
A: Please visit our website at nvenergysomewhatcaresifyoudie.com or call our customer service line. We value your call. Your call is very important to us. Please continue to hold.
Representative Dale Voltage (R-NV), member of the House Committee on Energy and Commerce, called PowerMatch™ “the most exciting thing to happen to American energy policy in my lifetime, and frankly I’ve already bought tickets.”
“NV Energy has been proud to serve the Lake Tahoe community for decades, and our commitment to most of our customers remains as unwavering as ever”, said NV Energy’s Senior Vice President of Customer Relations. “We are confident that PowerMatch™ represents the future of American energy distribution, and we look forward to watching you compete. As always, we are here for you. Some of you, anyway.”
